    Kyle, the helper - 5.17.2013

I order two statues (one of Lord Ganesha and an other of Lord Buddah). Unfortunatly, the Lord Ganesah's one had been sold before my order. But, Kyle proposed me many other solution to help me getting what I wanted. So I would like to thank him for everthing he did for me. I received both of them yesterday. I was so happy, especially when I saw how the statue were perfectly packed. They travelled few thousand miles and hd no trouble. Once again, thank you. Thomas

    Loved the experience - 5.6.2013

It is rare to have a web purchase feel like such a personal experience. The way the products are described and the prompt attention from the company was really great. I had a personal email from the owner within a few minutes of ordering to clarify something on my information. The statue arrived right on time and is better than I expected. Thanks

    Buddha statues - 5.2.2013

I have purchased six Buddhas from Lotus Sculpture sofar and am very pleased with all of them. Because of my interest in Buddhism and in travel to Asian countries, I pick each Buddha as representative of specific nations and peoples. They remind me of the richness and variety of all these people and their great contribution to the human race. Thus, I have Buddhas from India, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, China, and Hawaii. I have yet to purchase those from Viet Nam and Laos, countries I have yet to visit. As a professor of theology and spirituality and a writer of twelve books thusfar, my latest on Christian-Buddhist dialogue, I cannot recommend more highly the beauty of Lotus Sculpture works. Thank you to Kyle.

    • A very rare sculpture of Yama not often found

    • View the skulls wrapped around the base

    Description

Yama is holding a noose and a mace.  Behind him is his vahana or vehicle, a buffalo which he uses as transportation.  The base that Yama stands has five skulls carved across the front.  Some conder Yama to be an incarnation of Shiva because of his association with "destroying" life so it can be renewed.  Lotus Sculpture made a special order for this Yama statue.  We have never seen a Yama statue before and wanted to be the only people to have this rare subject.

About Yama:  Yama is the much-feared Hindu god of death who lives in his gloomy palace Kalichi situated somewhere in the nether regions or the Hindu Patala. He is the regent of the Southern quarter of the compass. Yama has a number of attendants to assist him in his many tasks. In his palace he keeps a register called the "Book of Destiny" in which each person's span of life is recorded. This is maintained by one of the god's attendants and the servant is predictably as gloomy of countenance as his master. When a person's span of life is over Yama sends some of his more robust attendants up to earth to haul the person down to his palace.Yama is depicted as a man with dark green skin, wearing blood-red robes and with coppery eyes staring out of his grisly face. He rides his buffalo when he is traveling and he takes his mace and noose everywhere just in case there is an emergency and someone has to be cut off in the midst of his or her life.

About Gorora Stone:  Gorora stone or Red marble is a wonderful stone for sculpture because of its wide color range.  It is rarer than most soft stones and must be shipped into Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh in the north.  The stone has wonderful cream/yellow/green veins in it contrasting to the beautiful deep red to sometimes pink natural coloration of the stone.  The stone is extremely glossy.  When a red marble statue is polished it has a disarming shimmer.

    About the Artist

    Care

"Use a cotton cloth and gently buff the surface of the statue to bring out the natural polish of the stone."

White, red and black marble statues are easy to take care of as they just need some annual upkeep to keep them looking as they did when they were first carved.  Here are some easy tips to keep your White, red and black marble statues from Lotus Sculpture looking like the gods they are:
    • Dust the statue as needed to prevent dirt build up
    • To make the statue shine use a cotton cloth to buff the sculpture
    • You can use a small amount of natural oil such as coconut oil or olive oil to further polish the sculpture
    • Use a tooth brush to get into the hard to reach spaces of the sculpture
    • DO NOT TOUCH the painted surfaces of any of the white marble statues.  This will damage the painting if done often
We recommend keeping our marble statues in an indoor environment.  The statues are durable however not durable enough to brave the natural outdoors.  Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions regarding your wooden statue from Lotus Sculpture, (760) 994-4455 or info@lotussculpture.com.
