Statue Details
Materials: Hand Painted White Makrana Marble from Rajasthan
Total Height Including Base: 24 inches
Base Width & Depth: 21 x 10 inches
Weight: 158 pounds
The sculpture of Ganesh has the perfect balance of pure white marble and painting.  With some painted white sculptures the artist paints too much of the surface of the sculpture taking away for the beautiful white of the marble and the carving itself.  This piece has perfect harmony between the sculpture and painting.  Only Ganesha's head, hands and toes are painted.  This puts the focus on his beautiful, serene face.  His eyes are disarming.  It looks as if they are overflowing with an abundance of love!  His feet are slightly crossed which is a seated position that one does not see often.  The blooming lotus base's natural curves make it look very soft for Ganesh to sit.  This sculpture would be perfect for an entrance way into a home or temple.  Ganesh is the perfect welcome for any entry way!

About Makrana White Marble:  Makrana marble is regarded as being the oldest marble in age and the finest quality.  Makrana marble is named after a small town in Rajasthan, India where it is mined.  Artists have always sought out makrana marble because of its pure white color and its hardness.  Makrana marble was made famous for its use as the principle stone in the building of the Taj Mahal.  In sculpture the marble is often hand painted in vibrant colors giving a beautiful contrast to the pure white of the marble.
I always say to our customers; The sculpture chooses you, you do not choose the sculpture.
You just know when you find the right piece to bring into your home and into your heart.
- Kyle Tortora, Founder of Lotus Sculpture
"In heaven Lord Ganesh will establish the predominance of gods, on earth that of people, in the nether world that of serpents and anti-gods"
~A Hymn from Sri Bhagavat-Tathva~

The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduisms most popular deities. He is the remover of obstacles, the deity whom worshippers first acknowledge when they visit a temple. He is also patron of letters and of learning; he is the legendary scribe who, using his broken tusk, which he often holds, wrote down parts of the Mahabharata epic. Ganesh is usually depicted colored red; he is pot bellied, has one tusk broken, and has four arms that may hold a pasam, a goad, and a pot of rice or sweetmeats. The sweet meats are held in a type of bowl known as a laddus. His appetite for these sweets is legendary and offerings of them are often left at his shrine.

Statues of Ganesh can be found in most Indian towns. His image is placed where new houses are to be built; he is honored at the start of a journey or business venture, and poets traditionally invoke him at the start of a book.

A pasam is a triple twine weapon. Each of the three twines represents, arrogance and conceit, Maya - the illusory nature of the real world, ignorance. In Hindu ideology weapons are a viewed as symbolic tools to destroy the ego rather than to cause any type of bloodshed. Goads (or elephant prods) are typically used to direct elephants. Goads are symbolic of how one should steer the soul away from the ignorance and illusions of this earthly world just as a mahout would steer an elephant away from any treacherous path.

They will not be unpacking the statue and taking the crate away. Think of them as you would UPS or Fedex. They only deliver the statue. If you require a little extra service, (within reason) a tip to a delivery man usually works wonders!
For placing the statue our customers have either placed the statue themselves with help of a friend and a tool like a hand truck or a dolly. Or by contacting their landscaper who is used to moving large and heavy objects like rocks and trees into place. For much larger and heavier sculptures sometimes the customer needs a piece of heavy equipment for placing the statue like a crane or forklift. If you have any questions contact me directly at [email protected] or (760) 994-4455
