    I order two statues (one of Lord Ganesha and an other of Lord Buddah). Unfortunatly, the Lord Ganesah's one had been sold before my order. But, Kyle proposed me many other solution to help me getting what I wanted. So I would like to thank him for everthing he did for me. I received both of them yesterday. I was so happy, especially when I saw how the statue were perfectly packed. They travelled few thousand miles and hd no trouble. Once again, thank you. Thomas

    Buddha statues - 5.2.2013

    I have purchased six Buddhas from Lotus Sculpture sofar and am very pleased with all of them. Because of my interest in Buddhism and in travel to Asian countries, I pick each Buddha as representative of specific nations and peoples. They remind me of the richness and variety of all these people and their great contribution to the human race. Thus, I have Buddhas from India, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, China, and Hawaii. I have yet to purchase those from Viet Nam and Laos, countries I have yet to visit. As a professor of theology and spirituality and a writer of twelve books thusfar, my latest on Christian-Buddhist dialogue, I cannot recommend more highly the beauty of Lotus Sculpture works.     Description

    This kavadi wall panel is handcrafted by the wood artisans in South India.  The kavadi pictured is the only sculpture Lotus Sculpture has like this in our store.  When you order this piece you will receive this exact sculpture.  It is truly one of a kind as there is only one made exactly like this!

    A kavadi is a wall hanging that is shaped like an entrance to a South Indian temple.  These entrances are called gopurams and are known for their rich artistry and bright colors.  This kavadi depicts Lakshmi standing holding two lotus flowers.  At the base of the kavadi are two peacocks.  To the left and right of Lakshmi are two yalis.  Yalis are mythical beasts that are a combination of many animals.  Above Lakshmi is Mahakala, a demon known as "great time" or the devourer of time.  There is a hook in the back of the wall panel so that it can be hung on a wall.

    About Lakshmi

    "Beautiful goddess seated on a chariot, delighted by songs on lustful elephants, bedecked with lotuses, pearls and gems, lustrous as fire, radiant as gold, resplendent as the sun, calm as the moon, mistress of cows and horses - take away poverty and misfortune bring joy, riches, harvest and children."

    Draped in red saree, bedecked with gold ornaments, seated on a lotus, pot in hand, flanked by white elephants, the image of Lakshmi adorns most Hindu homes and business establishments.

    Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness.  She holds the promise of material fulfillment and contentment.  She is described as restless, whimsical yet maternal, with her arms raised to bless and to grant her blessings.

    Shri is the sacred name of Lakshmi.  Shri is written atop most documents and spoken before addressing a god, teacher holy man or any revered individual.  The word evokes grace, affluence abundance, auspiciousness and authority.  When the word is spoken or written an aura of holiness is established.  Whatever follows is imbued with divine blessing.  Just as the word "Om" is associated with the mystical side of life, Shri is associated with the material side of existence.

    Lakshmi represents the beautiful and bountiful aspect of nature.  As Bhoodevi, the earth-goddess, she nurtures life; as Shreedevi, the goddess of fortune, she bestows power, pleasure and prosperity on those who deserve her grace.  To realize her, one must respect the laws of life and appreciate the wonders of existence.

    Care

    Dust the piece as needed. If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the statue.
