Damaged statue replaced immediately - 3.5.2014
The lovely "stone" statue of Ganesh I ordered was damaged during shipping because of improper packing. Kyle replaced it immediately - and courteously - with a well-packed one which arrived safe and sound.

First Class - 2.20.2014
Lotus Sculpture's website is extensive and shows so many different images of each piece that I felt I was already familiar with this image of Ganesh before it even arrived. My correspondence with Kyle was pleasant, professional, and I'm sure I'll return again to peruse and purchase.
I can't offer anything but praise for Kyle's wonderful site and service.

pravati - 1.16.2014
Just what I wanted. As described. Very pleased with purchase.
Ganesh, like Krishna is often shown playing music and enjoying the fruits that life has to offer. This sculpture depicts Ganesh is playing the flute. His large trunk hangs comfortably over the flute. He is in a very relaxed position with his legs tucked around his large belly. The flute is typically played by Krishna but Ganesh often borrows instruments from his friends. Truly a one of a kind statue of Ganesh hand carved by the talented marble artists of South India!
"In heaven Lord Ganesh will establish the predominance of gods, on earth that of people, in the nether world that of serpents and anti-gods" ~A Hymn from Sri Bhagavat-Tathva~
The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduisms most popular deities. He is the remover of obstacles, the deity whom worshippers first acknowledge when they visit a temple. He is also patron of letters and of learning; he is the legendary scribe who, using his broken tusk, which he often holds, wrote down parts of the Mahabharata epic. Ganesh is usually depicted colored red; he is pot bellied, has one tusk broken, and has four arms that may hold a pasam, a goad, and a pot of rice or sweetmeats. The sweet meats are held in a type of bowl known as a laddus. His appetite for these sweets is legendary and offerings of them are often left at his shrine.
Statues of Ganesh can be found in most Indian towns. His image is placed where new houses are to be built; he is honored at the start of a journey or business venture, and poets traditionally invoke him at the start of a book.
A pasam is a triple twine weapon. Each of the three twines represents, arrogance and conceit, Maya - the illusory nature of the real world, ignorance. In Hindu ideology weapons are a viewed as symbolic tools to destroy the ego rather than to cause any type of bloodshed. Goads (or elephant prods) are typically used to direct elephants. Goads are symbolic of how one should steer the soul away from the ignorance and illusions of this earthly world just as a mahout would steer an elephant away from any treacherous path.
About the Artist
Balan Arimuvani is the artist behind all our colored marble statues. He has worked with Lotus Sculpture since we started in 2002. His small marble workshop began with only him and 2 other workers. His business has grown to 8 marble artists and now he has a granite workshop employing 30 workers for large granite statues. He continually credits Lotus Sculpture with his success saying it would not have been possible with out the continuing commissions from Lotus Sculpture. Balan is a good friend of Kyle Tortora, the owner of Lotus Sculpture. He has a wife and two beautiful girls.

"Use a cotton cloth and gently buff the surface of the statue to bring out the natural polish of the stone."
White, red and black marble statues are easy to take care of as they just need some annual upkeep to keep them looking as they did when they were first carved. Here are some easy tips to keep your White, red and black marble statues from Lotus Sculpture looking like the gods they are:
Dust the statue as needed to prevent dirt build up
To make the statue shine use a cotton cloth to buff the sculpture
You can use a small amount of natural oil such as coconut oil or olive oil to further polish the sculpture
Use a tooth brush to get into the hard to reach spaces of the sculpture
DO NOT TOUCH the painted surfaces of any of the white marble statues. This will damage the painting if done often
We recommend keeping our marble statues in an indoor environment. The statues are durable however not durable enough to brave the natural outdoors.
