    I order two statues (one of Lord Ganesha and an other of Lord Buddah). Unfortunatly, the Lord Ganesah's one had been sold before my order. But, Kyle proposed me many other solution to help me getting what I wanted. So I would like to thank him for everthing he did for me. I received both of them yesterday.     Description

    The pair of Chinese guardian lions are known as Shishi or in the West, Foo Dogs.  They are not dogs at all but lions.  They are iconic images of pre-modern China and have traditionally stood outside imperial palaces and the wealthy.  They are believed to have powerful protective benefits.  They are always displayed as a pair with a male and female lion.  The male is shown on the right and the female on the left.   This is a manifestation of yin and yang, the female representing yin and the male yang.  According to feng shui, correct placement of the lions is important to ensure their beneficial effect. When looking out of a building through the entrance to be guarded, looking in the same direction as the lions, the male is placed on the left and the female on the right.  When looking at the entrance from outside the building, facing the lions, the male lion is on the right, and the female is on the left.
    There is a ball carved into the mouths of the lions which can rattle when touched or moved.  It is an interesting feature of these sculptures. 

    The pair of Shishi are handcrafted by the stone artisans in Bali.  The Foo dogs pictured are the only sculptures like them sold by Lotus Sculpture.  When you order the pair you will receive the exact sculptures.  They are truly one of a kind as there is only one pair made exactly like this!

    About Lava Stone:  The lava stone used for our sculptures was quarried in the volcanic mountains of Indonesia.  The lava stone is a solid stone that is perfect for any type of location and weather conditions, hot or cold, wet or dry. The stone is versatile in that it can be colored in a wide spectrum of colors.  It can also be polished or unpolished giving giving it a clean or rough feel.  In humid conditions if it is left untouched it takes on a very mysterious, antique, worn look like you would see in the temple ruins of south east Asia.

    Care

    Lava stone statues from Bali do not need much maintenance.  The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating.  They can be used for both indoor and outdoor use. 

    "You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically
    go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.    "

    Soap and warm water is the best way to maintain the statue.  You can use a small brush to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair. 

    Lava stone's durability makes it perfect for cold winters and hot summers of any climate.  The stone can stand up to the harshest conditions of heat and bitter cold.  We suggest you bathe the sculpture at least once a year so that dirt does not collect on the sculpture.  This will maintain the sculpture for your grandchildren and then their grandchildren!
