    Description

This sculpture depicts the seated form of Kwan Yin holding a vase of nectar and a willow branch.  Kwan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion and also known as Guanyin and Avalokiteshvar.  The sculpture has a beautiful antique patina.  The black wooden base gives the sculpture a refined look.

    About Kwan Yin

Kwan Yin (also spelled Kuan Yin, Quan Yin or Guan Yin), is known as the Goddess of Compassion, and she is one of the most popular deities in all of Asia. Her name in Chinese roughly translates to "The One Who hears the Cries of the World". Many believe that she is the female representation of Avalokiteshvara, the Tibetan and Nepalese God of Compassion. As a Bodhisattva, she has chosen to put off her complete, unexcelled, perfect enlightenment for the benefit of beings everywhere, and will wait as long as there is one being who is not enlightened.

    Care

Brass statues from Bali, Indonesia do not need much maintenance.  The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating.  Bali brass is meant only to be used indoors.

"You can use a natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil  and a cotton cloth to periodically
wipe down the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
    "

If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece.  You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.  This will not remove any of the natural patina on the statue.
