The antique, verde-gris patina of the Buddha is the perfect contrast for the wooden, black base

The Buddha bust has a serene and pensive expression on his face. The bust captures the entirety of his upper torso. Both his hands are raised in front of him with his thumb and forefinger touching in the vitarka mudra of teaching. His eyes are downcast, deep in thought. His eyebrows follow and arch that leads directly into his well formed nose. His earlobes are stretched from him wearing heavy gold earrings in his princely youth. He has a pronounced third eye on his forehead. The statue has rich, antique, verde-gris patina which is typical of Indonesian brass statues. The bust is attached to a black wooden base which gives it a classic refined feel.

Brass statues from Bali, Indonesia do not need much maintenance. The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. Bali brass is meant only to be used indoors.

You can use a natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil and a cotton cloth to periodically wipe down the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece. You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair. This will not remove any of the natural patina on the statue.
