About the Author: Shakunthala Jagannathan was educated in Madras University and at Columbia University in New York and workd with the United Nations before returning to India. She has been associated with various cultural and welfare organizations and is the grand-daughter of the late Dr. C. P. Ramaswamy Aiyar a renown Indologist.
