      • Ganesha is the Hindu remover of obstacles and the lord of wisdom, known for guiding devotees through challenges with strength and insight
      • He sits in a seated posture, holding his traditional emblems including the modak sweet he is famously fond of, carved down to every bead of his crown
      • This piece was hand selected by Kyle himself on his most recent buying trip to Cambodia, cut from a higher quality grade of Tmor Keo Spong marble he had never come across before
      • The stone runs through soft green, grey and even a hint of purple, but the deep red veining is the real standout, so bold it looks like it was marked with vermilion, the same red powder devotees use to anoint Ganesha during puja
      • Ganesha is hand carved from marble by the artisans of Cambodia and completely one of a kind, you will receive this exact statue with your order
Ganesha is the Hindu remover of obstacles and the guide of wisdom, honored for bringing protection, success and clarity. Kyle selected this particular piece himself on his most recent trip to Cambodia, drawn to a higher quality grade of Tmor Keo Spong he had not come across before. The figure is carved from solid Tmor Keo Spong running through soft green, grey and a hint of purple, but it is the deep red veining threading across the body, crown and pedestal that gives the piece its presence, so bold in places it resembles vermilion, the sacred red powder used to mark Ganesha during puja. Fine carving defines the jewelry, the facial expression and the folds of the dhoti, while the wide base adds balance and strength to the composition. With its grounded pose and rich stone character, this statue creates a powerful spiritual focal point for a home, garden or temple space, and arrives in time for Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14.

      "The statue chooses you.

"In heaven Lord Ganesh will establish the predominance of gods, on earth that of people, in the nether world that of serpents and anti-gods"
      ~A Hymn from Sri Bhagavat-Tathva~

The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduisms most popular deities. He is the remover of obstacles, the deity whom worshippers first acknowledge when they visit a temple. He is also patron of letters and of learning; he is the legendary scribe who, using his broken tusk, which he often holds, wrote down parts of the Mahabharata epic. Ganesh is usually depicted colored red; he is pot bellied, has one tusk broken, and has four arms that may hold a pasam, a goad, and a pot of rice or sweetmeats. The sweet meats are held in a type of bowl known as a laddus. His appetite for these sweets is legendary and offerings of them are often left at his shrine.

Statues of Ganesh can be found in most Indian towns. His image is placed where new houses are to be built; he is honored at the start of a journey or business venture, and poets traditionally invoke him at the start of a book.

A pasam is a triple twine weapon. Each of the three twines represents, arrogance and conceit, Maya - the illusory nature of the real world, ignorance. In Hindu ideology weapons are a viewed as symbolic tools to destroy the ego rather than to cause any type of bloodshed. Goads (or elephant prods) are typically used to direct elephants. Goads are symbolic of how one should steer the soul away from the ignorance and illusions of this earthly world just as a mahout would steer an elephant away from any treacherous path.
Use a cotton cloth and gently buff the surface of the statue to bring out the natural polish of the stone.

White, red and black marble statues are easy to take care of as they just need some annual upkeep to keep them looking as they did when they were first carved. Here are some easy tips to keep your White, red and black marble statues from Lotus Sculpture looking like the gods they are:

      • Dust the statue as needed to prevent dirt build up
      • To make the statue shine use a cotton cloth to buff the sculpture
      • You can use a small amount of natural oil such as coconut oil or olive oil to further polish the sculpture
      • Use a tooth brush to get into the hard to reach spaces of the sculpture
      • DO NOT TOUCH the painted surfaces of any of the white marble statues. This will damage the painting if done often

White marble statues that are unpainted can be placed outdoors. We recommend keeping our smaller red and black marble statues as well as any painted marble statues in an indoor environment. The red and black marble statues have some delicate pieces that could chip if left outisde. The paint from the white marble statues will not last for more than 4 years if left outside so use discretion when placing your statues outdoors.
