Manjushri is the bodhisattva of wisdom and clear seeing in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, revered as the embodiment of insight that cuts through delusion. In one hand he raises the flaming sword of wisdom to sever ignorance and confusion at their root, while at his other shoulder blooms the lotus bearing the Prajnaparamita, the Great Perfection of Wisdom scripture, through which he teaches the emptiness of self-nature. Honored across the Himalayas, China, and Japan as the patron of study, discernment, and fearless learning, he supports clear thinking and ethical, awakened decision-making in all who seek his guidance.

Seated in full lotus position, his raised right arm brandishes the double-edged sword overhead, its tip flaring above the halo, while his left hand rests at his heart in vitarka mudra, the teaching gesture, its fingers holding the stem of a lotus that blossoms at his shoulder to cradle the sacred text. His serene face is finely painted with half-open eyes, blue-tinted brows, red lips, and a red bindi at the brow, crowned with a tall five-pointed diadem inlaid with turquoise and coral. Layered beaded necklaces drape his bare chest, and silk scarves ribbon down from his shoulders. A towering openwork aureole scrolls with foliate flourishes and gemstone studs behind him, all rising from a wide double-lotus throne banded with beaded petals and precious inlay. Cast in golden bronze and standing 15 inches tall, this piece is a radiant centerpiece for an altar, shrine, or study.

The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. These statues are mostly small and meant for indoor use.
