Marici, whose Sanskrit name means "ray of light," is the radiant goddess of the dawn in Buddhist tradition, embodying the first light that dispels darkness and the protective power that shields devotees from harm and obstacles. Revered as a fierce yet compassionate guardian, she is invoked for protection, healing, and the clearing of negative karma and mental fog, her many faces and arms expressing her tireless watchfulness in every direction. As the dawn goddess she grants inexhaustible spiritual resources and blessings to those who call upon her.

Seated in full lotus position, this three-faced form gazes serenely forward at center, flanked by a calm face to one side and a fierce open-mouthed face to the other, each finely painted with blue-tinted brows and red accents beneath jeweled five-pointed crowns. Her eight arms fan out around her, holding among their implements a small seated Buddha figure raised aloft, a life-giving nectar vessel that cleanses negative karma, and a bow and arrow balancing her protective ferocity with calming compassion, while others rest open in gestures of blessing. Layered beaded necklaces drape her bare chest, jeweled armbands and bracelets adorn her arms, and silk scarves spill in ribbons to either side. A towering openwork aureole scrolls with foliate flourishes and gemstone studs behind her, all rising from a wide double-lotus throne banded with beaded petals and precious inlay. Cast in golden bronze and standing 15 inches tall, this piece is a radiant centerpiece for an altar, shrine, or meditation space.

The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. These statues are mostly small and meant for indoor use.
