Guru Rinpoche, known as Padmasambhava or the "Lotus-Born," is revered as the second Buddha and the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, the tantric master who subdued the forces obstructing the dharma and established it firmly across the Himalayas in the 8th century. Beloved as a source of protection, blessing, and spiritual power, he is invoked to remove obstacles and awaken hidden wisdom, his commanding presence radiating the mastery of one who transformed every difficulty into a vehicle for enlightenment.

Seated in full lotus position, his right hand holds a golden dorje at his heart, the indestructible thunderbolt of enlightened power, while his left rests in his lap cradling a kapala skull cup. In the crook of his left arm leans the khatvanga, a ritual trident staff. His face carries a distinctive penetrating gaze with wide painted eyes, a curled mustache and soul patch, and a slight wrathful intensity, framed by the lotus hat crowned with a vajra and feather that marks his form. He wears layered royal and monastic robes richly engraved with scrollwork and inlaid with turquoise and coral, with long pendant earrings and beaded necklaces. A towering openwork shiny scroll patterns and gemstone studs behind him, all rising from a wide double-lotus throne banded with beaded petals. Cast in gold bronze and standing 15 inches tall, this piece is a radiant centerpiece for an altar, shrine, or meditation space.

Bronze statues from China do not need much maintenance. They are durable and strong! Most statues have black felt on the bottom of them to protect the surface they sit on. The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. These statues are mostly small and meant for indoor use.
