  • This is the last white Tara statue we have left in stock
In this sculpture Tara is in her white form.  In both of her hands she hold a blue lotus or uptala flower, which open at sunset to bloom thus releasing their fragrance during the night, a symbol of the moon and longevity.  Her right hand is in the varada mudra with her palm open facing downwards in a gesture of granting boons to her devotees.   Her left hand is held up in the vitarka mudra of teaching.   In between the tips of both her fingers is the begining of the stem of the flowers that flank both sides of her compassionate face.
She is seated in the padmasana or full lotus seated postion which is an easy way to recognize her as White Tara.

Green and White Tara:  Green Tara is the more common goddess depicted in sculpture.  She is an active goddess who is represented as a young girl.  She is accociated with the Night.
White Tara is the serene, motherly aspect of the Bodhistatva of Compassion and is associated with the Day.
The easy way to tell them apart in sculpture iconography is to look at how they are seated.  Green Tara is seated in the lalitasana with one leg stretched out usually resting on a lotus flower.  White Tara is seated in the full lotus position or the padmasana with the soles of both feet facing the sky.
I always say to our customers; The sculpture chooses you, you do not choose the sculpture.
You just know when you find the right piece to bring into your home and into your heart.
- Kyle Tortora, Founder of Lotus Sculpture
Devi Tara is a Buddhist deity who is known as the "savior Buddha". She is often depicted holding a lotus flower, and she is associated with compassion and healing. In Buddhism, it is believed that buddhas can take on different forms in order to help sentient beings. As such, Devi Tara is often seen as a buddha of compassion who is able to help those who are suffering. In addition to her association with healing, Devi Tara is also known for her protectiveness. She is seen as a guardian of Buddhists, and she is sometimes invoked in order to ward off evil spirits. For Buddhists, Devi Tara is an important figure who represents the possibility of liberation from suffering.

Brass statues from India do not need much maintenance. The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. They can be used for both indoor and outdoor use.

You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup. If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece. You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.

Indian brass's durability makes it perfect for cold winters and hot summers of any climate. The metal can stand up to the harshest conditions of heat and bitter cold. We suggest you bathe the sculpture every couple of months so that dirt does not collect on the sculpture and then use a cotton cloth with some natural oil to give the statue a shine.
