Description The Japanese style Amida Buddha is seated in the full lotus position or the padmasana, high on a blooming lotus base with 4 layers of petals.  Amida Buddha is the Buddha of Infinite Light.  He has a large protuberance on the top of his head called an ushnishna.  At the base of the ushnishna is a smaller bump called the Nikkeishū or the Nikkei Jewel which "radiates the light of wisdom".  There is a third eye or urna on his forehead that emitts rays of light and symbolizes that the Buddha is all-seeing.
He is is in the bhumisparsha mudra or earth touching hand position with his right hand reaching down towards the earth goddess, Sthavara, to bear witness to his attaining enlightenment.   The right hand, placed upon the right knee in earth-pressing mudra, and complemented by the left hand-which is held flat in the lap in the dhyana mudra of meditation, symbolizes the union of method and wisdom, samsara and nirvana, and also the realizations of the conventional and ultimate truths.
The Amida Buddha is not Siddhartha Gautama but actually is a monk named Dharmakara who attained Buddhahood.
Care

Bronze statues from China do not need much maintenance.  They are durable and strong!  Most statues have black felt on the bottom of them to protect the surface they sit on.  The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating.  These statues are mostly small and meant for indoor use.

"You can use a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup."

You can use a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.  If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece.  You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.
