The amount of detail captured in the area between the two lotus flowers Lokanatha is holding is beautiful. The crown looks as like the flames of a fire. His slight smile is certainly Buddha like.
Write up on the original taken from Patna Museum, Bihar, India: The detailed and elaborate style of Kurkihar of the 11th and 12th centuries is evident again in this strikingly elegant image of the Bodhisattva Lokanatha. It belongs to the reign of Rampala (AD 1072-1125). The deity sits on a double lotus with his right foot resting on a smaller lotus issuing from the base. The right hand is outstretched in the gesture of bestowing boons (blessings), the left hand clasps the stem of a lotus which blooms over his left shoulder. Another lotus was placed on the other side, giving symmetry to the composition. The figure of Lokanatha is richly bejeweled - a girdle with pearl festoons is placed about his waist, and he wears a necklace, bracelets, arm bands with a lion-faced ornament and a beaded sacred thread that sweeps down to the pedestal and goes over his right thigh. His locks of hair are piled on top of the head and held in place by a band: this coiffure contains an effigy of Amitabha.
