Description White Tara is seated on a double lotus base in the padmasana or the full lotus seated position with both her legs crossed and her feet facing the sky.  This is the leg position of deep meditation.   She is a beautiful young maiden.  Tara's right hand is shown in varada mudra (boon-granting gesture) because she is quick to respond to the petitions of those who seek her aid.  She has on chakra on the open palm of both her hands as she holds the stem of two blooming lotus flowers that grow to the left and right of her face.   She has a beautiful crown and ornate, circular earrings.
Tara holds a very high position in the Buddhist pantheon, she is regarded as the most powerful and popular goddess.  Tara is a Bodhisattva.  She is closely linked to Avalokiteshvara as she was born from one of his compassionate tears.  Green Tara is usually associated with protection from fear and the following eight obscurations: lions (pride), wild elephants (delusion/ignorance), fires (hatred and anger), snakes (jealousy), bandits and thieves (wrong views, including fanatical views), bondage (avarice and miserliness), floods (desire and attachment), and evil spirits and demons (deluded doubts).
Care

Bronze statues from China do not need much maintenance.  They are durable and strong!  Most statues have black felt on the bottom of them to protect the surface they sit on.  The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating.  These statues are mostly small and meant for indoor use.

"You can use a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup."

You can use a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.  If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece.  You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.
