Ganesha's vehicle or vahana is a rat or Mooshika. Because rats are able to chew their way through anything they are an apt companion for the Hindu God Ganesha, "the remover of obstacles". Almost every statue of Ganesh is accompanied by Mooshika. He is is seated up on his back legs holding an offering for Ganesha.
