She holds a vase containing the divine nectar of life with her right hand raised with her thumb and middle finger touching in the vitarka mudra of discussion of the Buddhist dharma
Her hair is raised into a bun on top of her head with a figure of the amitabha Buddha meditating on the front

Kwan Yin is radiant! She is seated with one hand held up in the vitarka mudra and the other is holding a vase of nectar. The vase represents wisdom quenching the thirst of ignorance. The nectar also represents the relieving of suffering since nectar is the food of hungry ghosts. Her other hand is in the vitarka mudra, the gesture of discussion and debate which indicates communication and the explanation of the Dharma. The tip of the thumb and index finger touch. This finger position is a gesture of great compassion.

Kwan Yin (also spelled Kuan Yin, Quan Yin or Guan Yin), is known as the Goddess of Compassion, and she is one of the most popular deities in all of Asia. Her name in Chinese roughly translates to "The One Who hears the Cries of the World". Many believe that she is the female representation of Avalokiteshvara, the Tibetan and Nepalese God of Compassion. As a Bodhisattva, she has chosen to put off her complete, unexcelled, perfect enlightenment for the benefit of beings everywhere, and will wait as long as there is one being who is not enlightened.

Lava stone statues from Bali do not need much maintenance. The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. They can be used for both indoor and outdoor use.

You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
