Description Kwan Yin is radiant!  She is seated on a double lotus base with one hand held up in the vitarka mudra and the other is holding a vase of nectar.  The vase represents wisdom quenching the thirst of ignorance.   The nectar also represents the relieving of suffering since nectar is the food of hungry ghosts.  Her other hand is in the vitarka mudra, the gesture of discussion and debate which indicates communication and the explanation of the Dharma.  The tip of the thumb and index finger touch, this being the gesture of great compassion.

About Kwan Yin:  Kwan Yin (also spelled Kuan Yin or Quan Yin), is known as the Goddess of Compassion, and she is one of the most popular deities in all of Asia.  Her name in Chinese roughly translates to  "The One who Hears the Cries of the World".  Many believe that she is the female representation of Avalokitesvara, who is the Tibetan and Nepalese God of Compassion.  As a bodhisattva, she has chosen to put off her complete unexcelled, perfect enlightenment for the benefit of beings everywhere, and she will wait as long as there is one being who is not enlightened.

This white marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of Vietnam.   Kwan Yin would add peace and serenity into any garden, home or temple.  When placed in a garden setting the white of the stone contrasts beautifully with the natural colors of nature.

Care

"White Marble is extremely strong and perfect for the outdoors in any weather.  You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup."

Soap and warm water is the best way to maintain the statue.  You can use a small brush to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.  Do not use any oils to clean the statue as this may be absorbed by the stone and discolor the applied area.

White marble's durability makes it perfect for cold winters and hot summers in any climate.  The stone can stand up to the harshest conditions of heat and bitter cold.  We suggest you bathe the sculpture at least once a year so that dirt does not collect on the sculpture.  This will maintain the sculpture for your grandchildren and then their grandchildren!
