- This hand made Buddha statue is one of a kind and the only one we have in our gallery
- This masterpiece Buddha is seated in the ardapadmasana or half lotus pose on the coils of a 9 headed naga or serpent with both his hands in his lap in the dhyana mudra of meditation
- The Cambodian style Buddha has broad features typical of a Khmer style Buddha sculpture
- The sculpture has a beautiful verde-gris, antique green patina with the base slightly raised off the ground by a leg on each corner
This interpretation of this image as the naga Muchalinda protecting the enlightened Buddha during a storm is now refuted as a later Theravada reading. It is most likely the supreme Adi Buddha of the Tantric tradition, with the naga representing the rising of subtle energy (kundalini) through the seven energy centers (chakra) in the practitioners body in his progress to enlightenment. The highest chakra points, the throat and had - where enlightenment is said to take place - are represented here on the nagas's chest and hood.

Brass statues from Cambodia do not need much maintenance. The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. As they are brass, they can be used both indoors and outdoors. Although if the statue has a black wooden base it is not recommended for the outdoors as the base will show signs of wear over time outside.
You can use soap, warm water and a cotton cloth to periodically go over the statue to remove any dust or dirt buildup. If you are really interested in making the statue shine you can use some natural oil, like coconut oil or olive oil, and a cotton rag to wipe down the metal portions of the piece. You can use a toothbrush as well to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.
If you have any questions concerning your Cambodian brass statue please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1(760) 994-4455.

For placing the statue our customers have either placed the statue themselves with help of a friend and a tool like a hand truck or a dolly. Or by contacting their landscaper who is used to moving large and heavy objects like rocks and trees into place. For much larger and heavier sculptures sometimes the customer needs a piece of heavy equipment for placing the statue like a crane or forklift.
