A Wonderful Experience - 8.25.2014
Buying these Ganeshas were a dream of mine for so long and I'm glad I did. Kyle was absolutely wonderful to deal and my Ganeshas came rather quickly and beautifully packaged. They are treasures on my altar and already I'm thinking of my next purchase. Thank you Lotus Sculpture for your wonderful service.

Antique Meenakshi Statue - 8.17.2014
I have been looking at this statue for years, and knew deep down that I wanted to add it to my collection of other Lotus Sculpture statues.
This antique statue is unique (estimated to be between 50 and 200 years old) and was offered to me at such a special discount that I felt overwhelmed when I opened the box, carefully packaged by Kyle and his team. When I looked at Goddess Meenakshi I smiled, because her nose is slightly crooked just like mine! I knew immediately that I am part of her and she is part of me. She is now sitting proudly on a dresser beside another antique statue of Shiva. Their respective heights are perfect. The love couple is complete!
Thanks to Lotus Sculpture and Kyle Tortora for his generosity and for giving me this one chance opportunity to be connected to what is close to my heart.
May Lotus Sculpture be prosperous!

Recent Devi Yantra purchase....one of many - 7.15.2014
We have been shopping at Lotus Sculpture for a good number of years and we have always been pleased with our purchases. As you perhaps know, buying the statues is the first step and "energizing" them at the temple is another step and the latter is important for "bonding" with the statue and to "take the metal" out of it. Putting the "deity" in the statue is a time-consuming and costly step, depending on the temple one chooses. It could range between $100 - 300. Fortunately the purchase of the statue itself at Lotus Sculpture makes it a great first experience and the next steps are equally moving, organizing the trip, purchases for the real deity, costs to the temple and swamis etc. I wished that some of the statues were more affordable, but then I understand that you offer quality product and that you run a business, not a temple. At the most a payment plan should be offered (pardon me if it is, I am not aware of it) instead of putting the item on a credit card. Personally, I do not like to associate my statues with credit. I see every item that you sell as divine, at least the path to an incredible experience with the "other" world, be it Hindu or Buddhist. Thanks for the great opportunity for shopping at Lotus Sculpture.
I received the Yantra and will have it consecrated at the Kali Temple in Burtonsville, MD. We have also bought:
Kali blessed in Burtonsville, MD, a.k.a Miss Kitty
The Goddess with the mirror (she is now Meenakshi, blessed at the Murugan temple of North America, a.k.a Babe
Ganesh, a.k.a Bongo on drums, blessed at the Ganesh temple, Queens
Muruga and his peacock,a.k.a. Murray, blessed at Palani Andavar's shrine, Murugan temple of North America.
The peacock lamp
They have all been blessed and contrary to popular belief, I do not have a special shrine or altar in my house, I place them wherever I desire in the house, bedroom, living room and I do not feel disrespectful towards them. I figure, if they can see me in form and formless, what difference does it make whether they are in my bedroom or in a special part of the house dedicated to them? I do not believe in strict adherence to rituals. I do not possess these statues for religious purposes only. We offer them the food we eat on a daily basis. They also have special names. They make us happy, we love them. The represent beauty, a presence of something divine or more, I do not know. I know that they love us and smile in turn, NOT ALL THE TIME and that is how I know that the deity is here with us. They sometimes show sadness. Basically the relationship with them is an endless labor of love, cooking for them, celebrating birthdays with them, buying fruits for bongo, gardening for them and so forth. The experience is unbelievable.

Best place to buy any kind of Hindu or Buddhist icon! - 7.10.2014
Kyle Tortora provides a great service in making these murthies available, and best of all, he has a deep understanding of Hinduism and Buddhism, and the esoterics of worship.
I've recently bought my second murthy from Lotus. Kyle maintains an outstanding inventory of beautiful statues in all materials and sizes and his prices are extremely reasonable. Shipping was super fast! His customer service is among the best I've ever encountered.
Thank you Lotus Sculpture!

Better than going to India to find the perfect fit. - 7.4.2014
Having gone to India to purchase statues many times, spending days trying to find good craftsmanship and then arranging the import is no more ! The wood sculpture that I bought for my husband for our fifth wedding anniversary was so much better in person than even in the pictures. Thank you Lotus Scuplture ! I will be purchasing more in the future for sure.
The beautiful Lakshmi sits holding two lotus flowers, a symbol of beauty, prosperity and fertility, with her other two hands in the abhaya mudra showing her devotees that have nothing to fear from the goddess of wealth. She is radiant! Her lips have a slight sublime smile. Her breasts are covered which give her a motherly, modest appearance. Her lavish headdress, jewelry and leggings are all finely carved fitting for the goddess of wealth. Her hands are soft and comforting each with a diamond shaped carving on the palm. Above her on the arch is Mahakala the devourer or "great time' as in the end, time devours everything. Mahakala is typically seen in arches in statuary and above doorways in Hindu homes and temples. The arch can be removed from the piece for easy transport. Lakshmi is a polished golden bronze which is perfect for puja.
Lost Wax Method: This sculpture is a one of a kind, lost wax method bronze statue hand made by the artists of South India. The sculpture pictured is the only sculpture Lotus Sculpture has like this in our store. When you order this piece you will receive this exact sculpture. It is truly one of a kind as there is only one made exactly like this! Each bronze is hand made by a group of bronze artists whose families have been crafting bronze sculptures for centuries with the art being passed on by each generation. The hand crafted bronzes statues have an incredible amount of detail which many other mass produced, brass Hindu statues lack. Lost Wax South Indian bronze statues are the only sculptures used by Hindu temples throughout India and the world.
"Beautiful goddess seated on a chariot, delighted by songs on lustful elephants, bedecked with lotuses, pearls and gems, lustrous as fire, radiant as gold, resplendent as the sun, calm as the moon, mistress of cows and horses - take away poverty and misfortune bring joy, riches, harvest and children."
Draped in red saree, bedecked with gold ornaments, seated on a lotus, pot in hand, flanked by white elephants, the image of Lakshmi adorns most Hindu homes and business establishments.
Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, luxury, beauty, fertility, and auspiciousness. She holds the promise of material fulfillment and contentment. She is described as restless, whimsical yet maternal, with her arms raised to bless and to grant her blessings.
Shri is the sacred name of Lakshmi. Shri is written atop most documents and spoken before addressing a god, teacher holy man or any revered individual. The word evokes grace, affluence abundance, auspiciousness and authority. When the word is spoken or written an aura of holiness is established. Whatever follows is imbued with divine blessing. Just as the word "Om" is associated with the mystical side of life, Shri is associated with the material side of existence.
Lakshmi represents the beautiful and bountiful aspect of nature. As Bhoodevi, the earth-goddess, she nurtures life; as Shreedevi, the goddess of fortune, she bestows power, pleasure and prosperity on those who deserve her grace. To realize her, one must respect the laws of life and appreciate the wonders of existence.
Bronze is an extremely durable metal made from a combination of 5 metals; copper, iron, tin, with minute additions of silver and gold. This combination is called Panchaloha bronze and is the basis for making the sacred Hindu temple statues of India and the world. Copper is the most prevalent metal in the alloy. Copper also gives the metal a softer composition that allows the bronze artisans to carve the details that are prevalent in each piece. All the South Indian bronze sculpture Lotus Sculpture carries are Panchaloham and thus suited for any home altar or community temple.
"If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the bronze statue."
Because of the durability of the metal not much is needed to maintain a bronze sculpture. Many of our customers purchase a bronze statue and perform daily puja and abhisheka consisting of bathing the Hindu deity in ghee, milk, coconut milk or other liquids. In this case nothing is needed to keep the statue clean as it will be bathed daily. If the sculpture is used for "darshan" or simply viewing the sculpture it is best to dust the statue as needed so no dirt collects in the details of the sculpture. For both polished golden bronzes and antique patina bronze statues if you would like the sculpture to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the piece as needed.
Many of our bronze Hindu statues have been placed in outdoor temples. Bronze's durability makes it perfect for cold winters and hot summers of any climate. We suggest you bathe the sculpture every couple of months so that dirt does not collect on the sculpture and then use a cotton cloth with some natural oil to give the statue a shine. Both indoors and outdoors a bronze statue can be left alone which, overtime, will give the bronze an antique patina.
On some bronze statues you can see small hints of lime green, verde-gris patina. Some people prize this color for its age others want to remove it. If you would like to remove the verde-gris use a tooth brush with some coconut oil or other natural oil and lightly go over the verde-gris. This should remove the unwanted patina from the sculpture.
