    Kyle, the helper - 5.17.2013

I order two statues (one of Lord Ganesha and an other of Lord Buddah). Unfortunatly, the Lord Ganesah's one had been sold before my order. But, Kyle proposed me many other solution to help me getting what I wanted. So I would like to thank him for everthing he did for me. I received both of them yesterday. I was so happy, especially when I saw how the statue were perfectly packed. They travelled few thousand miles and hd no trouble. Once again, thank you. Thomas

    Loved the experience - 5.6.2013

It is rare to have a web purchase feel like such a personal experience. The way the products are described and the prompt attention from the company was really great. I had a personal email from the owner within a few minutes of ordering to clarify something on my information. The statue arrived right on time and is better than I expected. Thanks

    Buddha statues - 5.2.2013

I have purchased six Buddhas from Lotus Sculpture sofar and am very pleased with all of them. Because of my interest in Buddhism and in travel to Asian countries, I pick each Buddha as representative of specific nations and peoples. They remind me of the richness and variety of all these people and their great contribution to the human race. Thus, I have Buddhas from India, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, China, and Hawaii. I have yet to purchase those from Viet Nam and Laos, countries I have yet to visit. As a professor of theology and spirituality and a writer of twelve books thusfar, my latest on Christian-Buddhist dialogue, I cannot recommend more highly the beauty of Lotus Sculpture works. Thank you to Kyle.

    Description

Kwan Yin is radiant!  Her expression captures a unique look of serenity one would look for from the Goddess of Compassion.  Her features are long and slender with a beautiful nose and lips adorned with a slight smile.   The natural veins within the wood add add to Kwan Yin's stunning facial features.  Her hair is put up in a bun on her head with small wisps of hair emerging from her neck all framed by a beautifully carved halo.

Another figure predominating the sculpture is a dragon.  The dragon's body is on the base decorated with lily pads with its snarling mouth directly at Kwan Yin's feet.  It's long spiny tail slithers up and around the backside of Kwan Yin ending to the left of Kwan Yin's face in a flame design.  Parts of the dragon's body and tail are lightly shaded which is the natural coloring of the wood.  There is another figure of a devotee on the other side of the dragon who looks up at her with his hands pressed together in greeting.  Kwan Yin's body seems to sway with the tail of the dragon.  Her figure is tall and lean with gossamer robes that are fluttering in the wind.  Her right hand is in the vitark mudra while her left hand holds an overturned vase.  The wood color of her body has a very deep, rich coloring which adds to the beauty of this masterpiece carving.

About Kwan Yin:  Kwan Yin (also spelled Kuan Yin or Quan Yin), is known as the Goddess of Compassion, and she is one of the most popular deities in all of Asia.  Her name in Chinese roughly translates to  "The One who Hears the Cries of the World".  Many believe that she is the female representation of Avalokitesvara, who is the Tibetan and Nepalese God of Compassion.  As a bodhisattva, she has chosen to put off her complete attainment of enlightenment for the benefit of beings everywhere, and she will wait as long as there is one being who is not enlightened.

This sculpture  is a one of a kind wood masterpiece statue hand carved by the wood artists of Bali.  The sculpture pictured is the only statue we have like this in our store.  When you order this piece you will receive this exact sculpture.  It is truly one of a kind as there is only one made exactly like this!

    Care

"The use of a wood polish will keep the wood looking fresh and the colors vibrant."

Wood statues are easy to take care of as they just need some annual upkeep to keep them looking as they did when they were first carved.  All the wood used by Lotus Sculpure's artists is dried out for months.  Moisture causes cracks in the sculpture as the wood contracts and expands in different temperatures.  Our wood has little to no moisture in it assuring that the sculpture is not going to crack in its journey into different climates.  Here are some simple tips to keep your statue in good condition:

    • Dust the statue as needed to prevent dirt build up
    • To make the statue shine use a natural wood cleaner and a cotton cloth to buff the sculpture
We prefer Old English to polish and buff our statues.  The use of a wood polish like Old English will keep the wood looking fresh and keep the colors looking vibrant.  For natural wood and painted wooden statues we recommend Old English for lighter woods.  For darker wood statues we recommend Old English for darker woods.  Lotus Sculpture cleans and polishes each  wooden statue prior to shipping them to the customer.

We recommend keeping wooden statues in an indoor environment.  Wood statues can go outside however, they will wear more quickly and develop an antique appearance.  If you would like to put a wood statue from Lotus Sculpture outside and keep the same appearance of the sculpture we would recommend first coating the statue with a couple of layers of sealant or polyurethane.  We would then recommend placing the statue in a partially covered area.  The more exposure to the elements the more the statue will wear over time.   Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions regarding your wooden statue from Lotus Sculpture, (760) 994-4455 or info@lotussculpture.com.
