  • A stunning sculpture of Lord Ganapathi "the remover of obstacles"
  • He is entirely hand sculpted and hand painted by Sayak from Kolkata, India
  • He wears a garland of flowers around his neck with floral designs painted in red on his trunk
  • The most striking feature of Ganesha is the large beautifully painted godly halo of siraschakra behind his head
Ganesha is hand made by the artists of Kolkata, India.  Lotus Sculpture worked directly with the artist, named Sayak, to first design this Ganesha out of clay and then to render the God in fiber.  Lotus Sculpture is the only gallery to find this custom design of Ganesh, especially in this large size.  Fiber statues are extremely strong and durable while also being light weight and movable.  They can be washed for easy cleaning.  Liquids used for abhishekam during puja will not dull or harm the colors.

Ganesh is seated on a pedestal with his vehicle, Mooshika the rat next to him.  He is holding a noose in his right hand and an elephant goad in his left with a ball of Indian sweets in his left front hand.  His right hand is held up in the abhaya mudra in front of him.  He has large drooping ears which give the Ganesh a realistic look and feel.  His eyes are alive!  There are swirls and floral patterns painted on the base of his trunk in red as well as a small trident in homepage to his father, lord Shiva.  He wears a beautiful garland of flowers around his neck.   Perhaps the most striking feature is the large colorful nimbus or godly halo behind his head.  A stunning sculpture of Ganapathi!

I always say to our customers; The sculpture chooses you, you do not choose the sculpture.
You just know when you find the right piece to bring into your home and into your heart.
- Kyle Tortora, Founder of Lotus Sculpture
"In heaven Lord Ganesh will establish the predominance of gods, on earth that of people, in the nether world that of serpents and anti-gods"
~A Hymn from Sri Bhagavat-Tathva~

The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduisms most popular deities. He is the remover of obstacles, the deity whom worshippers first acknowledge when they visit a temple. He is also patron of letters and of learning; he is the legendary scribe who, using his broken tusk, which he often holds, wrote down parts of the Mahabharata epic. Ganesh is usually depicted colored red; he is pot bellied, has one tusk broken, and has four arms that may hold a pasam, a goad, and a pot of rice or sweetmeats. The sweet meats are held in a type of bowl known as a laddus. His appetite for these sweets is legendary and offerings of them are often left at his shrine.

Statues of Ganesh can be found in most Indian towns. His image is placed where new houses are to be built; he is honored at the start of a journey or business venture, and poets traditionally invoke him at the start of a book.

A pasam is a triple twine weapon. Each of the three twines represents, arrogance and conceit, Maya - the illusory nature of the real world, ignorance. In Hindu ideology weapons are a viewed as symbolic tools to destroy the ego rather than to cause any type of bloodshed. Goads (or elephant prods) are typically used to direct elephants. Goads are symbolic of how one should steer the soul away from the ignorance and illusions of this earthly world just as a mahout would steer an elephant away from any treacherous path.

Fiber statues from India are extremely strong and durable. They can be dropped and put through stress and not break. The paint is able to be washed without discoloring or fading. This makes the sculpture perfect for perfect for performing abhishekam during puja ceremonies.

Fiber statues are extremely durable and strong! You can wash them and perform puja with liquids without worrying about the colors.

The only maintenance you will need will be to dust them regularly. You can wash them as well to give the deity of a bath of love and appreciation!

If you have any questions concerning your fiber statue please email us at [email protected] or call us at 1(760) 994-4455.

For placing the statue our customers have either placed the statue themselves with help of a friend and a tool like a hand truck or a dolly. Or by contacting their landscaper who is used to moving large and heavy objects like rocks and trees into place. For much larger and heavier sculptures sometimes the customer needs a piece of heavy equipment for placing the statue like a crane or forklift.
